Planting 12,500 trees to fight climate change

We’ve teamed up with Green Live to plant a tree for every ticket holder at the London Green Live event. This means 12,500 trees will be planted in a single day.

Planting trees is one of the most effective ways we have to fight climate change. Not only do they remove CO2 from the atmosphere, but they also stop desertification, protect wildlife, and replenish soil.

Despite these benefits, humans are cutting down the world’s forests at an alarming rate. In the last 50 years, over 50% of the Amazon rainforest has been destroyed. This is why we urgently need to reverse the trend and start planting more trees now. Every tree planted with Green Live will support the environment and help work towards a more sustainable future for our planet.

Where will Green Live’s trees be planted?

These trees will be spread across sites in Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Nepal, and Central America. Tree planting is carried out by local communities with support from Eden, supporting fair wage employment for communities around the world. Involvement from locals also means that the trees are monitored to ensure they are not cut down or damaged.

How does planting trees help the environment?

As trees grow, they absorb carbon dioxide from the air, helping to balance the emissions produced by human activities, such as burning fossil fuels. However, trees do a lot more than just sucking up CO2. Over eighty percent of the Earth’s land animals and plants live in forests, and removing trees threatens their habitats, pushing many species to the brink of extinction. Trees also play a crucial role in the water cycle, as well as restoring landscapes, stabilising shorelines and mountain sides, and improving soil quality. This has a direct impact on human livelihoods, as many communities around the world depend on forests for food, work, and income.

Green Live is a new event for sustainable, green, eco-friendly consumers, aiming to inspire sustainable living. It is completely free to attend, taking place in London and Milton Keynes this October with over 80 sustainable brands and speakers present.

How we live and what we buy is going to have a decisive impact on the planet. It’s time to start buying better, more eco-friendly products and services. We all need to play our part in being responsible consumers by making more informed shopping choices.

At Green Live this October, people will have the opportunity to discover new sustainable products and services first hand, and meet the people behind them. Visitors can also attend talks from leading experts and discover ways to make daily life more sustainable. The goal of this free event is to inspire people everywhere to live more sustainably.

100% commitment to sustainability

We are big fans of the Green Live team and their commitment to delivering a sustainable event. As well as planting trees with Treepoints, they have produced a 100% digital marketing campaign, without any printed materials at all. What’s more, all the graphic panels and carpets used at the event will be 100% recycled. This sets a great example to the events industry to do better in the sustainable delivery of live events.
